Some planets habited by player with AI ( Artificial Inteligencen )
Or this is not original?
But is good to be added.
One AI player per race. The Admin. select the name of the AI player.

i think it would be too hard to program AI it is very hard to get the right Intelligence for it. They could be amazingly good and you would always lose points and AI would be the top ten always or they would be so dumb and players would take major advantage of them. It would be really hard.

Well, apparently, the implementation of the AI itself won't be so hard as the writing of the scripts that belong to it, e.g.:
1.) what to research
2.) what to build
3.) who to attack
4.) how to respond to an attack
etc.
On top of that, there is the most important question - will the AI be allways on-line, or not?
But then again - all the AI in one alliance, that has well, two objectives:
1.) Avenging an attack on an ally
2.) Striking a specific yet non-specific target /sounds weird, I know / - like the top10, or the black hole or something...
P.S. I also had an idea about AI players last round...

it would be interesting, but i think it is impossible to build a perfect strategy in spacetrace, so the AI players would be very vulnerable .
to program an AI player (bot) is not our job, this would be the job of one of you
there are some scripts, that walk through webpages, and i think it would be ok, if you try to program such a bot.
for now, it is not forbidden jet, (unless you make too much traffic)
here is the only rule for your bots:
only one webpage per 10 minutes (except maybe in critical times like attacks but even then the maximum refresh rate would be one minute i think.)
OK?

after an internal discussion i post some game-ethical problems with it:
- i think this will cause some multi problems (i guess bot programmers would use multiple accounts to make attacks more effective)
- a bot that launch the fleets at a time where the opponent sleeps is unfair
- fighting against machines is boring
-> imagine: getting attacked by 8 bot-constructed fleets at night ....
so i say NO

I think fighting against 8 bot-cunstructed fleets at night is like fighting against the wiz... so it wouldnt make the game more dangerous... If you have to sleep, you dont have a chance...

I do like the idea of some sort of non-player threat in the game. I think with a little ingenuity it could be possible to add NPCs to the game. It could benefit the game by adding a little variety to combat, as one of those little side-occurances that happens to you on your adventures. It could be an interesting feature to take on in the future, when everyone is happy with the colony game.

I recently thought about a way to fix these problems. It is a stretch, but bare with me.
How about this:
* We create some Dominion/Traveller NPC's.
* We give them some very basic AI, nothing fancy, just enough that they scuttle around the galaxy and occassionally stir up trouble for real players.
* We arm them with a special new C1 ship that has it's own warp-drive, cannot be destroyed and, instead of attacking, it 'Creates' a random amount (with a limit, of course) of random ships in it's fleet for the battle.
* From there we could add all sorts of limits and mechanics to further improve and expand on the feature.
If they were controlled like the Dominion is controlled (by the game) then multi abuse shouldn't be a problem. Their specialty ship would enable them to, in essence, act just like another player: their fleet varies, isin't predictable, and could potentially wipe yours out, or they could end up totally failing. Their fleet constructions wouldn't be predictable, so they would by no means be "vunerable", and would actually pose a significant threat to real players!
I say, if it ever materializes, we call them:
