Do Shield Generators only affect Class 2 ships, or can they be used to protect other ships in the fleet, if say you have no other Class 2's in that fleet?

Shield generator is a class 2 ship, so it would only get activated when your class 2 fights, that means it will only "protect" your class 2 ships
