I think vacation mode would be a good idea, It would allow players not to loose what took so long to build. But could have some prevention stuff so that if you attacked someone you can turn it on, and lasts a minimum of X days and lasts a max of XX days.

how about a cloaking device for your planet, that needs nearly all your manpower?

that would help over the vacations i think

What would prevent players taking a vacation when under a large attack?

I think there should be a min time of vacation, so that you can't cloak your planet for some hours and then come back into the game .. the cloaking should last at least one week, I think .. and then have no maximum

I think I suggested this cloaking thing before, but I don't believe one week is enough!?! What about some lazy weekends (about 4 days) vacation?

Bye

but what will players see when sending a deep scan probe to a cloaked planet.

target reached. nothing found
or
cloaked signature detected... ???

Hehe...I think it should be the second one. But what if you just have 4750 mp and are attacked while building it?

i´d like to have the first one because if i would go to attack someone, i surely kow the target coords.
If i have a deep scan placed at these coords telling me "a cloaked signature detected..."
i know there must be something.
i´d set up a strong class1 or class3 fleet and attack the target coords.
and out of the blue the base will be bashed away.
but if it would be like "nothing found" the destination will either be destroyed nor really be cloaked.
in this case u have to guess whether an attack would make sense or not.

I've one question before this is added to the game:

Will it be possible to "decloak" the planet with this dekloaking probe?

Nope, that would be foolish .. The vacation mode is for pretending your planet to be attacked, and that would this building make completely useless

all newbies planets and fleets are cloaked for the first 24 hours. this is how the newbie protection works. if you decloak them, they recloak immediately.

there is some work to do until the cloak shere works... it will be posted in the forum in the announcements

for this "Cloaking Sphear" why the long research time? I see 15 min for research and 2 day build, instead of the 1 Day Recearch and 1D 12 H Build. This allowes your advisarys time to attack at lease 1 time and keeps you from using it as an escape route from overwhelming attacks. Unfortunately the player variable MP's make it possible for your vacation to end and the enemy to be sitting there while you have no defence fleet while someone else has a sizable intercepter force and a Destroyer, Cruiser, class 4 still in residence. What if building it were like the MTWG but available to anybody, It cost points to deploy it say 1500 but it would protect you from attacks at your homeworld. Deployed fleets are still targetable, but the home fleet and the planet are not. It takes 2 days to deploy and is hopfully tied to the login screen as an option to return from vacation and disable the vessel, or do not login.

A reacent multi-deaths in the family had my wife, kids and I traveling out of country in only 3 days notice. If I were playing this game at that time I may not have been able to deploy a Vacation device if it required me to research it for days in advance and then build it. If after this unexpectedly long absence I had returned and were a member of a powerfull alliance that racked up a lot of points in my absence I would unfairly have pulled them down from what they may have attained as I was not participating in gaining thier points. Would my planet now be unavalible due to this long absence? Can my HomeWorld coords still be used by alli members for faster travel while I am vacationing?

What was expected to be a 3 week trip became a 5 week + due to Immigration/Passport problems (Sep 11 issues in USA).

I think it's just a solution for the holidays, isn't it ? The research and building time should really be low, or maybe you should really not have to research it, but you have it from the start on ... to prevent missuse there should be a minimum time the building must stand.
